Prof. M. Jadoul received his MD degree in 1983 at the Université catholique de Louvain(UCL), Brussels, Belgium. His mentor was Professor Charles van Ypersele de Strihou. He further spent a year in the Academic Hospital in Utrecht, under mentorship of Prof.Dorhout Mees and Hein Koomans. He is chairing the Department of Nephrology of the Cliniques Universitaires Saint Luc since 2003 and is Full Clinical Professor at UCL. His clinical activities include the follow-up of hemodialysis and CKD patients. His main research interests have included beta2 microglobulin amyloidosis, hepatitis C and other complications (falls, bone fractures, sudden death a.o.) in HD patients, as well as cardiovascular complications after kidney TP and various causes of kidney disease (especially drugs).

He has (co)-authored of over 220 scientific papers (H-index : 44), most of them published in major nephrology journals. He is a  theme Editor of NDT. He is country co-investigator for the Dialysis Outcomes Practice Patterns Study (DOPPS) in Belgium since 2001. He received in 2008 the International Distinguished medal of the National Kidney Foundation (USA). He has been a member of the Council of ERA-EDTA (2013-2016) and is Editor in Chief of NDT-educational (2013-...). He is currently co-chairing the update of KDIGO HCV in CKD Guideline.
