Doctor Richard Fluck is Consultant Renal Physician at the Royal Derby Hospital and Clinical Chair, Internal Medicine Programme, NHS England.
In his clinical role, he leads the home haemodialysis programme and the Polycystic Kidney Disease Clinic but he covers all aspects of renal medicine.
His research interests are broad. He is part of the RRID and ARRID teams at Derby, studying long term outcomes related to CKD and AKI, has published on infection and vascular access as well as articles on home dialysis.
In his previous role as National Clinical Director for Renal, he established the Think Kidneys programme, improving the system approach to AKI, exploring patient activation in CKD and more recently facilitated the establishment of the Kidney Quality Improvement Partnership. He leads the leadership programme within KQuIP and is initiating a national improvement programme for home dialysis. He is a Health Foundation Q member and country co-investigator for DOPPS as well as writing chapters for the national Registry annual report.
